The head of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu considers that the best way to overcome the political crisis in Moldova is to formulate a new Constitution and approve it by referendum, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a program on Pro TV Chisinau on Monday evening, Mihai Ghimpu said the constitutional amendment proposal has been drafted since he held the post of head of state on an interim basis. It was formulated with the consent of the colleagues from the alliance within the commission on the amendment of the Constitution and was presented to the Venice Commission. “Now we only have to agree the regime – parliamentary, semi-presidential or presidential. We are also to reach important decisions as regards the Prosecutor's Office and the Constitutional Court, and the Constitution will be ready,” said Mihai Ghimpu. According to the PL leader, the constitutional referendum must not coincide with the day of the local elections, while the threshold should be removed. Mihai Ghimpu also said he was sure that this time the PCRM will no boycott the referendum as it will not dear to go against the Constitution, the people and the state.
