Constantin Butucel is running for mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau on behalf of the “We Build Europe at Home” Party (PACE) which is led by the former deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, who was charged and is investigated in the Republic of Moldova.

Constantin Butucel, 35, was born in Chisinau. He is married and has two children.

He graduated from the Technical University of Moldova, the Faculty of Engineering and Management in Car Building and Transport. In 2014, he founded in the Netherlands a private building company.

Since 2020 until present, he has held the post of head of the PACE local organization for the Netherlands. “I’m responsible for coordination and represent the party in our region. My mission is to mobilize and support members of the party, promote our political values and work for a better and more inclusive society in our local community,” said the PACE candidate.

In the snap parliamentary elections of July 2021, he was on the PACE’s slate. In that election, the party gained 1.28% of the ballot or 18,781 votes and didn’t enter the legislative body.

Since 2023, he has formed part of the party’s permanent Political Bureau.

For January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022, he declared incomes totaling €90,000. He owns half of two houses. One of the houses is 120 square meters in area and was bought in 2017, while the other house is 110 square meters in area and was purchased in 2020.

When he announced his candidacy, Constantin Butucel said that he decided to return home from the Netherlands after working for 12 years in construction and urban development in this country. He noted that he wants to implement at home what he saw in Europe –unique conceptions and projects for Chisinau, based on European practices and experiences.

As the draw decided, Constantin Butucel will be under No. 3 on the ballot.
