The State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Constantin Borosan, has called for urgent works at the Chisinau Electricity Station, where the Vulcanesti-Chisinau High-Voltage Power Line will be connected. During a working visit to the construction site, Constantin Borosan emphasized the importance of this project for the country and discussed the progress of works and related challenges, IPN reports.
Four 400/330/35 kV autotransformers, a new 330 kV cell connected to the new 400/330/35 kV autotransformers and the extension of the existing 330 kV plant are to be built at the 330 kV Chisinau Electricity Station, as well as a new 400 kV cell for the Vulcanesti-Chisinau LEA is to be installed.
"The companies involved in the works will intensify communication between the key project entities and internal coordination procedures will be advanced to ensure steady progress", said Constantin Borosan.
According to Ruslan Surugiu, the director of the Energy Project Implementation Unit, the equipment needed to carry out the modernization works at the Chisinau Power Station has been delivered in 75% of the total.
The modernization of the Chisinau 400/330 kV substation is part of a project to develop the energy sector in the Republic of Moldova. The works, together with the expansion of the Vulcănești Power Station, will strengthen the electricity connection with Romania and connect the Isaccea (RO)-Vulcanesti-Chisinau (MD) 400 kV overhead power line to the energy infrastructure in the central part of the country, including Chisinau, bypassing the Moldovan thermoelectric power plant MGRES, located in the Transnistrian region.
Constantin Borosan mentioned earlier that today the electricity purchase capacity through the interconnection with Romania is limited to 315 MW, which is insufficient to cover the demand at peak hours. The authorities urge people to consume energy responsibly.
