Consignment of buckwheat with insects withdrawn from kindergarten

The checks performed at Kindergarten No. 157 of Chisinau after parents reported that the children were given porridge with impurities showed that the consignment of buckwheat contained insect pests. The whole quantity of buckwheat was sealed up and withdrawn from the institution and will be sent back to the producer. The kindergarten’s principal was disciplinarily punished, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of Chisinau.

After photos of buckwheat with insects appeared on social networking sites on November 14, a group of specialists traveled to the kindergarten to inspect the consignment of buckwheat supplied by SRL “Prodagrotrade” to Kindergarten No. 157 - 50 kg on October 6 and 50 kg on November 2. These established that both of the lots contained impurities. The buckwheat was packed in packets of the brand “Sofi”, produced by “Moldagroproduct” SRL.

The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport said an inspection was also performed at Kindergarten No. 157 on November 8 and some other irregularities in alimentation were identified then. Given the results of the checks of November 8 and 14, the Division decided to disciplinarily punish the kindergarten’s acting director Mariana Sclifos, in accordance with the Labor Code and the current legislation.
