The evergreens at the nurseries of “Moldsilva” Agency will be put on sale in less than a month. The administration is considering the possibility of reducing the price of a tree by about 20% so that the families could enjoy a natural Christmas tree in the house on the holidays.
Contacted by IPN, director of “Moldsilva” Agency Dumitru Cojocaru said that as the previous years, the first fir trees will be put on sale in the middle of December so that they resist until the end of the winter holidays. After being cut down, the fir trees can be kept for a month. Initially, there will be sold 7,000 to 8,000 coniferous trees. If the demand is higher, the number will be increased.
The evergreens will be brought from the nurseries based in Chisinau, Edineț, Glodeni, Iargara, Cimișlia, Strășeni, Nisporeni and other places. Of the 12 million saplings available at the Agency’s nurseries, 15% are fir trees.
At nurseries, the price of a conifer last year was 36 lei/meter. The silver trees are slightly more expensive. Dumitru Cojocaru said that given the COVID-19 pandemic, when a lot of people were affected financially, next week he will suggest to the Board of Directors to reduce the price by 20%.
The director of “Moldsilva” also said that the Agency is trying to sell evergreens through forestry companies so as to avoid intermediaries and a rise in prices. After obtaining the necessary authorizations from local authorities, the forestry companies will set up special trading platforms.
