Congratulatory messages from Barack Obama and Joe Biden

U.S. President Barack Obama and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden sent congratulatory messages to the Moldovan people on the occasion of the Independence Day, Info-Prim Neo reports. “In the name of the U.S. people, I congratulate the Moldovans on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the proclamation of the country’s independence, which is celebrated on August 27. The United States joint the Moldovan people in welcoming the results achieved by the Republic of Moldova during the 20 years of independence, especially the effort made during the last two years of transition to a society based on the principle of democracy and the rule of law. The U.S. wants to see Moldova making progress in the European integration process and will continue to support Moldova in this process,” reads Barack Obama’s message. The U.S. President reiterates the U.S.’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova and urges the Government of Moldova to firmly respect its commitment to develop the country in the spirit of a modern, democratic and prosperous European state. In his message, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden thanks the Government of Moldova for the congratulatory letter sent by Moldova on the occasion of the anniversary of the United States’ independence. “The memories of the warm and hospitable welcome given to me during my visit to Moldova in March remain fresh. I appreciated the possibility of personally seeing Moldova’s accomplishments during the last few years,” said Joe Biden. He stressed that the Moldovans must be proud of their accomplishments – from free and fair elections, enhanced respect for the human rights and civil society up to a more prosperous economy. He reiterated that the U.S. will continue to be Moldova’s partner and to support it in its efforts to promote development and political and economic reforms. Congratulatory messages on the occasion of Moldova’s Independence Day were also sent by the President of the United Mexican States Felipe Calderon Hinojosa and President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhozono. The two officials offered their sincere greetings to the Moldova people, saying their countries are ready to develop the relations with Moldova.
