The conflicts in the Moldovan - Russian relationship appeared due to the position of Chisinau regarding the solving of the Transnistrian conflict, a position that is unfavorable for those who protect the circulation of illegal money in the region, declared on Wednesday, June 28, the minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan at a press conference. According to the minister, the introduction of the new customs regime at the Moldovan - Ukrainian border was especially bothering, regime that slows down smuggling and the production and export of weapons from the region. As concerns the Transnistrian conflict, Stratan declared that presently efforts are made in order to resume the negotiations in “5+2” format, that were interrupted due to the rigid position of the Transnistrian negotiators. The head of Moldovan diplomacy mentioned that Russia violated a series of agreements when it suddenly interdicted the import of wines and other agricultural products from the Republic of Moldova. According to Stratan, the Russian Federation must conform itself to certain requirements if it wants to become member of the World Trade Organization. The minister expressed his hope that political conflicts, as well as economic ones between the two states will be solved. During the press conference, the minister of Foreign Affairs revised the activity of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration during the period of January - June this year. Stratan presented the main actions undertaken in the field of the implementation of the Plan of Actions the Republic of Moldova- European Union, in the field of boosting the relations with European partners. Also, he talked about the regional collaboration and bilateral one and the activity in the main international organizations.
