The fight between the head of the municipal police, Iacob Gumenita and general mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca goes on, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the City Hall’s sitting of March 31, the general mayor, Dorin Chirtoaca, shot more harsh words at the head of the municipal police, Iacob Gumenita. The mayor showed himself frustrated with Chisinau’s top cop avoiding to answer a series of questions as the intoxication of five children with pills at a kindergarten or as to the seizure of 200 kg of drugs last week in Chisinau. The policeman insisted to speak from the main floor, while the habit is to speak from own place. As Dorin Chirtoaca insisted that the top cop be seated, the quarrel unleashed. Iacob Gumeninta avoided to yield more details as to top police officers suspected of being involved in dealing with drugs in large amounts, saying it was too early to speak on the matter. All that he knew was that prosecutors started a probe in this respect. The mayor was dissatisfied the municipal police officers refused to provide answers in cases more serious than a simple accident of the general mayor. Replying, the head of the municipal police said the ones interested in the fate of the dismissed top ministerial officials could call the Interior Ministry’s press service. Iacob Gumenita declined his responsibility for the case. As the top policeman attempted to prolong the fight, the mayor declared the sitting closed and left the hall.
