Conductors introduced on some interurban routes

Following the example of buses and trolleybuses in Chisinau, the administrators of several interurban routes hired conductors in their buses. The decision is a result of the increased frequency of fiscal inspectors verifying whether tickets are issued to passengers. Petru Gorceag, director of the Anenii Noi coach-station, told Info-Prim Neo that it was difficult for drivers to simultaneously drive the bus and issue tickets to passengers. Conductors are hired so as not to disturb the driver. Peter Gorceag added that he considered the possibility to install a ticket machine in every bus. Interurban conductors, like those in Chisinau will wear a special vest and badge. The route administrators admit that they are willing to pay a conductor’s wages instead of paying thousands of lei in fines and risking losing their license. The daily wage of a conductor is about 150 lei. The administrators of some routes in Ialoveni district have also hired conductors.
