Conditions of Telenești Center “Diamant” improved owing to European project

The activity halls of the Children’s Day Center “Diamant” of Telenești and its cooking facilities were repaired and outfitted with furniture and equipment as part of a European project supported by the Telenești District Council. Also, the center’s personnel attender courses and were trained to stage the activities in a highly qualitative way and with a plus of efficiency, IPN reports, quoting a press release.

A car to transport children from Mihalașa, Mihalașa Nouă and Inești to the center was also bought in the framework of the project “Children’s Day Center “Diamant” – innovative, efficient and sustainable service”, whose total value is of €75,816.

Project director Alexandru Blajevschi said the Center “Diamant” has operated since 2003 and until recently was unable to welcome such a large number of children. “Owing to the project, we managed to

extend the educational activities so as to develop the social, intellectual, physical and emotional abilities of children in a risky situation form Telenești,” he stated, noting that now the center provides educational and social inclusion services for 110 children in situations of risk from the district.

“We managed to extend and improve the services offered at the center. Not only the children from Telenești town, but also those from the neighboring villages can now come to the center for a warm meal and for educational activities. Even if the epidemiological situation initially created particular difficulties in the implementation of the project, these were successfully overcome. At the moment, the services are provided according to the standard program, by observing all the sanitary norms. It’s great that the Center ”Diamant” already contributes to the improvement of the quality of life of the community in Telenești and of each beneficiary family apart,” stated Daniela Leahu, project director on behalf of the Soros Foundation Moldova.

The project was implemented with contributions from the European Union, the Soros Foundation Moldova, “Durcas Moldova” and the Telenești District Council.

“It is our responsibility to ensure the necessary conditions for the young people to grow and be educated in the family. We support local social initiatives and appreciate the support of the European partners that made a considerable financial contrition,” stated Alexandru Tăburceanu, deputy head of Telenești district.

To benefit from the services of the Children’s Day Center “Diamant”, the family can go to the community social assistant, the Telenești Social Assistance and Family Protection Division or directly to the center.
