The statement by which Parliament condemns Russia’s information attacks on the national information security and its abusive interference in the political activity in Moldova is regarded as a positive one by a part of Moldovan experts. Victor Juc, vice director of the Institute of Legal and Political Research of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, said the MPs acted correctly when they adopted such a statement, IPN reports.
According to him, this statement was adopted not out of the necessity of respecting the principle of reciprocity in response to the statement of the Russian State Duma, but rather out of the necessity of informing the people that the Russian partners interfere in Moldova’s internal affairs and endanger national security. “In the Republic of Moldova, Russia’s presence has always been consistent and practically continuous,” said Victor Juc.
He also said that even if this statement will not affect much the relations between Moldova and Russia, it was necessary. “I said that it will not change much because, even if there are more statements, the Russian Federation can anytime impose bans, stop goods at the border and send these back,” stated the expert.
Alexandru Solcan, dean of the International Relations Faculty of the State University of Moldova, said this statement is at least 20 years late. “The Russian Federation since the second half of the 1990s started to do many things that cannot be accepted in the relations between two sovereign states. It is clear that Russia began to see the territory of the Republic of Moldova as an area of vital interest,” he stated.
On February 8, Parliament adopted a statement by which Russia’s information attacks on the national information security and its abusive interference in the political activity in Moldova are condemned.
