Concept on parliament – civil society cooperation likely to be implemented soon

Speaker Marian Lupu and representatives of nongovernmental organisations will discuss early next week the implementation of the concept on cooperation between parliament and civil society. According to the press and image service of the Chisinau parliament, the speaker and heads of permanent commissions discussed issues related to the implementation of the concept at a working sitting on March 3. Lupu tackled the competences of permanent commissions and other subdivisions of the parliament apparatus in the process of cooperation with civil society. Under a decision of the permanent bureau, the permanent commissions receive contributions of civil society within 15 working days after the publication of legislative acts on the website of the parliament; they confirm the reception of contributions within a working day. The parliament apparatus is in charge with publishing of draft legislative documents on the official website of the parliament and logistic insurance of the process of cooperation with civil society. The participants in the sitting agreed to focus the process of cooperation with civil society in two key areas – the schedule of legislative actions in compliance with the Resolution and Recommendations of the commission for the respect for obligations and commitments of member states of the Council of Europe, on short term, and on the legislative programme for 2005–2009, on medium term.
