Con commits suicide by electrocution
A convict committed suicide by electrocution on Monday. Anatol Proca, doctor coordinator at the Emergency Service, told Info-Prim Neo that at around 7:00 pm, the 34-year old man, imprisoned at the Pruncul Penitentiary, opened an electric panel and grasped the live parts with both his hands. Upon the arrival of the ambulance, there was nothing left to be done but to pronounce him dead.
In an agricultural market on Ginta Latina Street was found a man, thought to be about 40-45 years old, in alcoholic coma. The same night, two other men, also unidentified, were found in the street in a state of advanced drunkenness, showing signs of general hypothermia. All of them were hospitalised.
A 56-year-old pedestrian crossing the street while drunk suffered brain concussion and left femur fracture after being stricken by a trolleybus on route no.1. The man alleged the trolleybus driver fled the scene, leaving him behind with his leg broken.
The number of calls received by the Chisinau Emergency Service on Monday and Tuesday night hit a record high of 984. The 45 ambulance crews responded, among others, to 63 cases of mumps, 43 cases of trauma, 159 of acute viral diseases, and 6 brain strokes.
