The Comrat Election Commission on January 23 started to issue subscription lists for collecting signatures in support of candidates for the post of Governor of Gagauzia.

The Commission’s head Valentin Cara has told IPN that 12 initiative groups have been registered so far. All of them came after the lists on the very first day. More initiative groups can be registered until January 25 inclusive.

Though signatures will be collected until February 19, the members of the commission expect that most of the initiative groups will submit the documents for registering candidates on January 26 already. The same day, there will be probably held the draw for preliminarily deciding the number of order in the ballot.

The first round of elections to choose the Governor of Gagauzia will take place on March 22. The second round will be held on April 5, if need be.
