Composition of commission that will investigate April 7-8 events is biased, PLDM
The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) says that the composition of the state commission for the investigation of the April 7-8 events created under a decree issued by Moldova’s outgoing President Vladimir Voronin is biased, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the party says that this commission was set up with the aim of manipulating the public opinion and denigrating the Opposition. According to the PLDM, the commission’s conclusions are foreseeable as it does not include representatives of the civil society, independent press and Opposition parties.
“The PLDM ascertains that the outgoing president continues to divide the society, which radicalizes the opinion and is fully inconsistent with the national interests,” the communiqué says.
The party insists on an international investigation into the events taking place in Moldova, identification of the causes and organizers of the violent acts of April 7 and assessment of the subsequent steps taken by the government.
Vladimir Voronin ordered the creation of a commission that would elucidate the causes, conditions and consequences of the events that took place in Chisinau on April 7 and 8. The Communist MP Vladimir Turcan was named as chairman of the commission. The results of the examination will be made known until May 5 at a sitting of the Parliament.
