Complaints to Consumer Protection Agency will be filed round-the-clock

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar demanded that the administration of the Consumer Protection Agency should provide a round-the-clock program for the hotline that the citizens can use to make complaints as soon as possible. Currently, the hotline works from 8am until 5pm, IPN reports.

“A new approach is needed. The Consumer Protection Agency should improve organization at internal level and the methods of communicating with consumer,” Valeriu Lazar said in a news conference held to mark the inauguration of the Agency’s new head office, situated at 78 Vasile Alecsandri St.

Valeriu Lazar noted that the people at the new head office will be able to lodge complaints even at the first floor of the building. He admitted that the consumers’ access to the old building was difficult.

The official also said that the institution’ work must be only 30% centered on inspections. The other part must be focused on the information of consumers and establishment of partnerships with associations working in the field.

Consumer Protection Agency vice director Olesea Platonic said that owing to the support provided by the World Bank, they could purchase the equipment needed to provide nonstop telephone services to the consumers. The equipment will be installed in the near future.
