Competition in memory of Zaharia Cotruta held in Stauceni

Children and teens from 22 communities of Moldova came together for the freestyle wrestling competition in memory of Zaharia Cotruta that was held in Stauceni last weekend. The former player of the national rugby team Alexei Cotruta wished success to the future champions and thanked the organizers for the made effort, IPN reports.

The students of the Stauceni Sports School form part of the national freestyle wrestling team. Last year these medaled at the European cadets and juniors championships. Two of them won medals also at the competition in Stauceni. Toma Vascan became a winner in the 66kg class, while Igor Chichioi – in the 55kg class. “This tournament is very important for Stauceni commune. Each child is able to showcase their talents here,” said the director of the Stauceni Sports School Vlad Chirita.

Eight wrestlers from Stauceni climbed on to the winner’s rostrum in the eighth freestyle wrestling competition in memory of Zaharia Cotruta.
