Compensations for homes flooded in Transnistria to be be paid starting Oct. 1
The authorities in Tiraspol have announced that indemnities for the houses flooded by the freshet on the Nistru will be paid starting on October 1 the latest.
Info-Prim Neo's field correspondent reports that in Bender town alone 18 houses were declared flood-damaged and their owners will receive roughly $50,000 in compensation. The damage sustained by non-residential structures will not be indemnified from the region's budget, but it is supposed that local administrations will contribute some of their own resources for that purpose.
Earlier, the ministry of foreign affairs of the unrecognized republic blamed the delay in distributing humanitarian aid to flood victims on Moldova, which allegedly politicized procedures and used the occasion for propaganda. According to the media in the region, “Transnistria doesn't need extra intermediaries, like the Republic of Moldova, to receive and distribute humanitarian aid”.
