Compensations for farmers owning farmland beyond Rybnitsa – Tiraspol road

The farmland situated beyond the Rybnitsa - Tiraspol road was the main subject discussed by the key negotiators to the Transnistrian conflict settlement process of Chisinau ad Tiraspol, Eugen Carpov and Nina Shtanski. After the meeting, Eugen Carpov said the constitutional authorities are analyzing the possibility of allocating compensations to farmers who do not have access to their farmland, IPN reports.

Eugen Carpov said the losses sustained by the farmers were assessed at 10 million lei. The farmers from the villages administered by the Moldovan constitutional authorities do not have to sign with the local authorities of Dubasari contracts for renting the own land that they received as a result of the privatization of the 1990s.

For her part, Nina Shtanski said that according to the information possessed by the Transnistrian authorities, the representatives of Chisinau offer by 4,000 lei to the farmland owners for not signing contracts with the Dubasari authorities. She noted that she opposes the decision to pay compensations to the farmers from Transnistria and underlined that this way the Moldovan authorities want to keep this issue ‘hot’.

The sides agreed that a new round of discussions between the groups of experts on economy and education of Chisinau and Tiraspol will be held within two weeks.
