Companies purchasing insulin favored by Medication Agency
The National Agency for Competition Protection penalized two pharmaceutical companies for breaking the legislation on competition protection. It also recommended the Medication Agency to stop limiting competition, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Agency established that the public tender contests for buying insulin within the National Program “Mold Diab”for 2009-2010 were held with violations of the legislation on the protection of competition. Two companies that were permanent winners reached a secret agreement about the prices and volume of the insulin asked for by the Medication Agency.
In a communique, the Agency informs that it will take legal action over the levying of 1% of the revenues received by the given companies by flouting the legislation on the protection of competition. The Agency says the Medication Agency broke the law as it did not reject the offer in the absence of competition, but divided the lots into two equal parts between the two bidders.
In another development, the Agency said it determined that three advertising agents placed advertisements for alcoholic beverages, in breach of the prescription issued earlier by the institution. The Agency informed the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime so that the advertising agency is penalized.
