The Centre „Andries” has been renovated and endowed with the necessary equipment, following an idea of the children’s right protecting municipal direction, supported by the City Hall, which allocated 470,000 lei. Angela Ganea, the head of the Centru district children’s right protecting subdivision has told Info-Prim Neo that the institution got but little repair after being constituted in 1978. She says, because of precarious conditions, the centre used to be visited by some 10-12 kids a day. After renovation, Andries ca hold as many as 60 children, as it is more attractive and comfortable, says Angela Ganea. Children and teenagers can learn to dance there, to crochet and practice different handicrafts. They can also learn French and have a computer room at their disposal, as well as more rooms for playing and other activities. There are 48 community centres of this type managed by the children’s right protecting Direction in the Chisinau municipality, of which 12 are in the Centru district.
