Communists request CMC to sack Chirtoaca
The Communist group in the Chisinau Municipal Council have demanded the sacking of Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca, arguing that he led the initiative to forbid Communist symbols. Otherwise, they threaten to sack him in a referendum, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We’ll defend these symbols by all legal means”, declared the deputy leader of the PCRM group Valeri Pavlov.
Independent councilor Teo Carnat congratulated the MPs on the decision to condemn the totalitarian Communist regime and to forbid its symbols, after a similar motion was passed by Parliament last week. The official proposed that Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin’s monument should be removed from the Moldexpo square and promised to come up with a draft decision in this regard.
