Communists propose Parliament to oust Ghimpu

The Moldovan Party of Communists (PCRM) posted an appeal on its website calling on the lawmakers to oust Mihai Ghimpu from the post of speaker and consequently caretaker president, “in order to salvage the reputation of the legislative”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The opposition party suggests Mihai Ghimpu should be dismissed at the upcoming meeting in Parliament, on June 28. “We firmly believe that most of the deputies in the Moldovan Parliament have no reason to let this person be in a such responsible and high post any longer”, the appeal reads. The proposal came after Mihai Ghimpu yesterday issued a decree declaring June 28 to be the day of Soviet occupation and commemoration of the victims of communism.
