Communists Party first in ballot papers
The Communists Party (PCRM) will be number one in the ballot papers following a drawing of lots held on June 17 at the Central Election Commission.
“We expected to go at number one in this competition. This means we'll be the victors in this early elections as well. It's much better than five, the number we had in the April 5 polls”, said Maria Boico, member of the PCRM's Central Committee.
“We hope it will be a fair campaign and we'll poll 80 percent of the vote, like Vladimir Nikolayevich (Voronin) said”, added Boico.
The PCRM will be followed by the Christian Democratic People's Party (PPCD), the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN), the Liberal Party (PL), and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM).
The order in the ballot paper will become final only after the CEC verifies the submissions of the parties.
Of the 5 parties which applied so far for participation in the elections, the PPCD made the most significant changes in its ticket. It left out the PPCD leader Iurie Rosca and his deputies, Vlad Cubreacov and Stefan Secareanu, as well as the Christian Democrat faction leader in the Chisinau Council Alexandru Corduneanu. The first seven positions on the ticket are occupied by members of the party's youth wing, the New Generation, with lawyer Ghenadie Vaculovschi standing at number one.
The PCRM's ticket left out Foreign Minister Andrei Stratan, who was rumored to having plans to quit the party.
