The MPs of the Communist Party (PCRM) left the May 23 sitting of Parliament, protesting thus against the fact that a proposal of the Communist faction wasn’t accepted, while an initiative put forward a year ago hasn’t been yet included in the agenda. The Communists proposed excluding the phrase ‘sexual orientation’ from the Law on Equality of Chances, known also as the Antidiscrimination Law, IPN reports.
The leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin asked that the faction’s proposal be voted nominally, saying those who will not vote will form part of the sexual minorities. He added he understands that this law was asked for by the EU officials, but the integration into the EU shouldn’t be done like this.
The Communist MPs’ proposal gained 39 votes, which is not enough for amending the law.
