“The election campaign of the Communists Party of Moldova is based exclusively on lies and misinformation. The Communists lied all the time – when they were in power and now when they are in Opposition,” the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) says in a communiqué, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The communiqué says the PCRM promised to follow an economic course that will help revitalize Moldova’s economy, but the country is the poorest in Europe, while the pensions do not cover the minimum subsistence level. “The Communists promised to combat corruption, but created a system of corrupt functionaries, judges and prosecutes who facilitated the concentration of the power and business in the hands of a small group of persons close to President Vladimir Voronin,” reads the communiqué. According to the PLDM, the Communists Party promised to restore the people’s power, social equity and interethnic harmony in society, but the people were removed from the administration of the public affairs, while the involvement of the ordinary people in decision making is minimum. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the PCRM’s jurist Sergiu Sarbu said all the assertions of the PLDM are false and pursue electoral goals. “The PCRM fulfilled all its promises. The Transnistrian conflict remained the only unsolved problem,” he stated.
