Communists could cooperate with pro-European coalition, Oleg Reidman

The Communist Party could consider cooperating with the pro-European coalition, endorse its candidate for President and even join the three parties in a broad coalition if they accept a number of conditions, said Communist MP Oleg Reidman.

Speaking at a talk show on Realitatea TV, Reidman said the PCRM is ready to cooperate with the parties forming the prospective pro-European coalition of the Communists are given control over a number of state institutions. He recalled the year 2005, when in exchange for endorsing Vladimir Voronin for President, the opposition got the Broadcasting Council, the Election Commission and the Court of Audits.

“We think it's normal for the opposition to get these institutions. We aren't buying or selling anything, but it's under these terms that we would consider variants of cooperating with the government”, said Oleg Reidman.

He added that the PCRM could even consider entering in a broad coalition with the three parties and participate in the government, despite not having yet received any official invitation to join the coalition formation talks. However, the final say on whether the party will sit at the negotiating table belongs to the PCRM Central Committee's plenary meeting to take place next Saturday.
