Communists condemn AEI for decision to dismiss Ion Muruianu
The parliamentary group of the Communists Party condemns the decision to discharge the president of the Supreme Court of Justice Ion Muruianu made by the parliamentary majority. In a statement, the PCRM faction says by dismissing Muruianu, the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) aimed at bringing the judiciary under control, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The illegality of the actions taken by Mister Filat and his colleagues is evident, but also explicable – he needs to have control over the judiciary in order to achieve his goals,” the statement says.
The Communists say they are convinced Ion Muruianu was discharged not because of the words he used to describe the journalists and not due to national courts' decisions quashed by the ECHR.
“A campaign was launched to harass the president of the Supreme Court of Justice and destroy and subdue the judiciary,” it is said in the statement. The PCRM faction considers that Ion Muruianu's dismissal was absolutely illegal, unfounded and immoral. “It is a dangerous precedent for a democratic state of law like Moldova.”
