The Party of Communists’ candidate for the post of mayor of Chisinau Vasili Chirtoca, together with his team for the Chisinau Municipal Council, on June 6 rode bicycles in a move to promote ‘the new energy of the capital city’. In parallel, several tens of vehicles travelled through Chisinau with flags and posters of the Communist candidate to support him on the last 100 meters of the election campaign, IPN reports.
Vasili Chirtoca said the local authorities lead Chisinau towards degradation. By today’s event, they wanted to show that the Communists’ team running in elections is full of energy and can give a new impetus to Chisinau. The illegal constructions in green areas will be stopped and the number of aquatic areas will be increased and will be protected.
The candidate called on all those who believe in the power of energy and need an energetic administration to cast their ballots in next Sunday’s elections. He said he chose the alternative transport in order to attract attention to the lack of infrastructure for bicyclists and, even if he is not fond of cycling, 11 years ago he financed a project to develop the alternative transport in Chisinau.
Asked about his expectations of the elections, Vasili Chirtoca said he hopes the people will vote for him and for the Communists’ team for the posts of councilor as there are no other alternatives.
