Communists call for urgent Parliament meeting

The Communist Party is calling for an urgent meeting of Parliament to be held on September 13 to set a date for a referendum on Moldova's accession to the Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a public address, the Communist Party says that its request is in response to the appeal of over 200,000 Moldovan citizens who want Moldova to join the Customs Union. At the same time, the Communist Party criticized the Alliance for European Integration for promoting “a defective policy that pushes the country into an even deeper crisis, instead of concerning itself with improving the situation caused by the drought”, and for tolerating marches that call for unification with Romania and which “divide society into barricades”. The Communist parliamentary group said that in the coming days it will submit a formal request in this regard and will present a draft law.
