At the end of the parliamentary session, the MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists decided to boycott the sittings. They criticized the government's initiatives, including those regarding the merging of two universities and two hospitals, noting that the authorities do nothing but commit crimes using the winter holidays as a pretext, IPN reports.
“Ahead of the winter holidays, the government that approves budgets at night prepared a series of laws, a series of crimes, illegal privatization at FEE Nord, at RED Nord, which are strategic enterprises, the closure of universities with history and accomplishments, the closure of medical institutions with history which form part of the national healthcare system and other crimes that the government commits during the holidays,” Socialist Deputy Speaker Vlad Batrincea told a press briefing.
According to him, the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, as the parliamentary opposition, opposes the government’s actions and does not see why their group should attend the last sittings of the parliamentary session. “We will boycott the given parliamentary sittings,” said the MP.
The Parliament’s autumn session ends on December 29, 2023.
