The MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists boycott the Parliament sitting in protest at the dictatorial actions of the current government, the leader of the Party of Communists Vladimir Voronin has announced, being quoted by IPN.
“This boycott has a political connotation and is due to the fact that the current administration of the Republic of Moldova does not deal with the county’s and citizens’ problems, but started to attack those who were named to posts in accordance with the Constitution, who defend the law and who started serious activities against corruption. Those who are in power are overwhelmed by the visits made by foreign officials, by promises and grants and consider that they can do whatever they,” Vladimir Voronin stated in a news conference.
According to him, winter is coming, but the government does not take care of the citizens. The agreement with Gazprom hasn’t been extended and the citizens will pay huge sums of money for gas. “No one controls anything. The government started to pave the way for the future dictatorship. They humiliated us in front of the whole Europe. They discredited the Prosecutor General’s Office that represents the state,” said the Communist leader.
The Bloc’s MPs demand to immediately set free Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo. They criticized the way in which he was suspended and arrested. “This story is no longer about Stoianoglo. This story is about the Republic of Moldova, about the establishment of dictatorship by one party. At the head office of a party, they will decide who should be jailed. This leads us to state capture. Each citizen can be detained without justice and the right of defense. We want to know why the development partners do not present their position. Moldova forms part of international organizations that usually react swiftly and appropriately,” said Socialist MP Vlad Batrîncea.
The Communists and Socialists reiterated that they will mount a civil protest on October 10 and invited all the citizens to this.
