Communist Party wins majority of votes in Rezina district
The Communist Party (PCRM) won 18 out of 33 mandates in the elections in Rezina’s district Council on November 11, 2007.
Varvara Rusu, president of the electoral Council, told Info-Prim Neo that the rest of the mandates will be distributed to 6 political parties. Thus, the Social Liberal Party will hold 6 mandates, Popular Christian-Democrat Party – three, “Our Moldova” Alliance and National Liberal Party will hold each two mandates and one mandate will we held by each councillor of the Social-Democrat Party and Democrat Party.
According to the source, about 14.5 thousand voters participated at elections – constituting about 43% of the population. Rusu also mentioned that no serious violations of the electoral process were recorded.
The Central Electoral Commission announced repeated elections for the post of district councillor for Rezina, because the Council elected on June 3, 2007 wasn’t able to come together for assigning the district’s administration. At that time, the communists obtained 16 mandates, the rest being distributed to 6 parties as well. AMN received 5 mandates, PSL – four, PD and PPCD each received three, whereas PSDM and the Liberal Party received each one mandate. 63% of the population participated at the elections on June 3, 2007.
