Communist Party promises better life for students and youth

An annual rise of 15% in stipends, the abolition of all the rises in tuition fees over the last year and a rise from 30,000 to 50,000 lei in the allowance paid to the university graduates who choose to work in rural areas – are just a few of the promises destined for the youth included in the electoral offer of the Communist Party (PCRM), Info-Prim Neo reports. At a news conference on Thursday, MP Grigore Petrenco, no.10 on PCRM's slate for the upcoming legislative elections, criticized the youth policies carried out by the Alliance for European Integration. He referred in particular to the cuts in stipends and delays in paying them, and the suspension of the housing program destined for the young families, which the PCRM promises to resume in case they win. MP Ina Supac, no.38 on the party ticket, said that the budget for youth activities in Moldova is currently the lowest among the CIS member countries and much lower compared with the EU member countries. The PCRM promises to continuously increase expenses for youth activities, promote informal education, create centers for children and youth in the districts which don't have any, and finalize the construction of the National Center for Children and Youth. The highlights on the PCRM's electoral offer for the youth are easier access to education and employment, social assistance for the youths and young families, improvements in student campuses, and support to the youth NGOs. Other promises include the institution of a flexible mechanism for taking exams, the extension of Work&Travel and Au Pair programs, support to the youth with starting 300 businesses annually, more subsidized places in universities, etc.
