Communist MPs say PCRM activists are intimidated

After being accused of exerting pressure on the police, Communist lawmakers gave a news conference saying it is the opposition that is in fact intimidated. The Communists said activists of the Communist Party (PCRM) are set up in order to scare the people who want to protest against the government, IPN reports.

MP Alexandr Petkov said the search carried out at the house of one of the activists of the PCRM was staged by prosecutors and police officers, being orchestrated by Vlad Plahotniuc and Vlad Filat. “What is going on is nothing else but a political order,” he stated.

He also said that Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean lies when he says that they didn’t know that the searched man was an activist of the PCRM. The searches are performed by the same prosecutor who is investigating the April 7 case. “We demand publicly and will demand in Parliament too that Minister Recean should resign,” stated Alexandr Petkov.

MP Grigore Petrenco said the Communist activist who was searched holds all the firearms legally.

In a news conference on Wednesday, September 25, Minister Dorin Recean accused the Communist lawmakers of putting pressure on the police. On September 24, the police, together with the Prosecutor’s Office, carried out a legal and authorized search at the place of a person. Besides the arms held legally by that person, there were found ammunition kept illegally – bullets that go though the bullet-proof vest, expansive bullets that penetrate the body and explode – as well as grenade launchers, one of which had a guiding system.
