The Communist parliamentary group will put forward a bill with amendments to the Law on Guaranteeing of Equality, which excludes all the phrases referring to untraditional sexual orientation from the law. In a news conference on Thursday, the leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin said the Communist MPs will come to the Parliament’s sitting where this bill will be put to the vote, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I call on all the lawmakers, especially those of the ruling alliance, to leave aside the narrow party interests and remember that we are all first of all sons and daughters, parents, and citizens of Moldova. We still can correct the made mistake and get rid of the shame of betraying our moral values, and restore our reputation of persons who are able to distinguish between good and evil,” said Vladimir Voronin. He stressed that this bill should be passed so as to bring back peace in society and stop its division. If the bill is not adopted, the PCRM will initiate a legislative referendum. “We will convince the whole country to rise up. The Communist Party will take all the measures needed to annul this law that embarrasses us all,” stated the Communist leader. The Law on Guaranteeing of Equality was passed by Parliament in two readings on May 25. Socialist MPs Veronica Abramchuk and Zinaida Greaceanii, Liberal-Democrat Valeriu Ghiletski and Democrat Oleg Sarbu voted against. The leader of the group of Socialists Igor Dodon was on a trip and did not take part in the sitting. Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said then that this law does not provide reasons for such fears as homosexual families, adoption of children by such families and gay parades. The adoption of this law represents a condition imposed by the EU for liberalizing the visa regime with Moldova.
