Communist MPs prepare own no-confidence motion

The Communist parliamentary group said they support the initiative to dismiss the Filip Government, but will propose their own no-confidence motion. According to them, the no-confidence motion must be well reasoned so that it is supported by other MPs too, while the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon misleads the people when he says that the Communists refuse to support the motion submitted by the Socialists, IPN reports.

In a press briefing on May 27, Communist MP Elena Bodnarenco said she and her colleagues accepted to support the Socialists’ no-confidence motion, but the Communists do not take decisions spontaneously. They must consult the party’s executive committee.

On April 27, before the legislature’s sitting, Igor Dodon said they could not secure the support of two more MPs for their no-confidence motion against the Filip Government to be registered. Therefore, they intend to propose by a simple motion against each minister weekly. They started with a motion against Minister of Education Corina Fusu, who was proposed for the post by the Liberal Party.

The Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu said the initiative of the Socialists is populist in character, while the arguments invoked in the motion are not conclusive.
