Communist MPs inquire about foreign plane that came to Moldova to take munitions

The lawmakers of the Communist Party (PCRM) Artur Reshetnikov and Sergiu Sarbu submitted applications to the Government, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Transport, the Security and Information Service and the Customs Service, whereby they asked for information about the foreign plane that came to Moldova to take munitions, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the party’s press service. “According to official reports, an IL-76 plane landed in Moldova on September 12. The airship transporting military cargo flied from the Libyan town of Benghazi and landed at the Chisinau International Airport for technical reasons, but was to land at the Marculesti International Airport. On September 13, the plane flied from Chisinau to Marculesti, where it was loaded with munitions of the National Army. The same day, the plane took off to an unknown destination. The region from where the IL-76 airship came is shaken by war and violence, which daily cause death among military men and the peaceful residents and make hundreds of thousands of refugees. According to unofficial reports, banned armament is used in Libya. The world community takes active measures to stop the war, improve the situation by peaceful methods and not to allow the use of arms,” the PCRM says in a communiqué. In order to fully elucidate this case, Communist lawmakers Artur Reshetnikov and Sergiu Sarbu asked for additional information from the authorities, including about the flight authorization and destination of the IL-76 plane, the place from where the plane set off to Moldova and where it flied from Moldova, the place where the place was registered and who rented it, what kind of military load it conveyed and to what value and in what quantity. They also inquired if the international organizations that supervise the circulation of armament were informed and what measures the Moldovan authorities took to prevent the use of the sold armament in areas under international embargo. On September 13, the Ministry of Defense of Moldova provided derails about the given plane. “The plane entered the Moldovan airspace under an authorization issued by the authorities of Moldova and landed at Marculesti in order to take a military load in accordance with a contract signed by the Ministry of Defense of Moldova and a Latvian company based in Riga. Under the contract, the Ministry of Defense sold a lot of munitions with the expired shelf life belonging to the National Army to the given company. The contract is perfectly legal and the list of National Army assets put up for sale was approved by Parliament Decision No. 458 - XV of June 30, 2001,” says the communiqué issued by the Ministry of Defense.
