Communist majority rejects Opposition’s proposals to raise compensations for gasification

The communist majority refused to put to the vote the proposals to raise the common compensations provided to the rural families of teachers, doctors and artists for being connected to the gas supply networks on Thursday, July 5. Some Opposition MPs proposed that these compensations should be 2,000 lei for certain categories stipulated in the project, while the others suggested extending the categories of people that would benefit from these compensations. But none of the proposals was accepted for the reason that there are no financial resources. The bill was passed in second reading without amendments. Under the bill, the families where the husband and wife work in education, culture and healthcare, the single persons working in these areas and the joint families of teachers, doctors and artists will receive common allowances of 1,500 lei. The families where one member is a teacher, doctor or artist will receive 750 lei. The local public authorities will fix and pay the compensations, while the financial resources will be transferred to the budgets of the territorial-administrative authorities from the state budget. According to the Government, about 7,000 of the 20,000 families that will receive such compensations have the possibility of getting connected to the natural gas networks. The project is estimated at 13.3 million lei. The authors of the project say that one of the aims of the document is to encourage the specialists to work in rural areas.
