Communist lawmakers run up massive phone bills

Head of Parliament Mihai Ghimpu asked the leaders of the government coalition what steps to take towards the Communist MPs who spend more than 1,000 lei a month on telephone conversations in the office. The issue of the very large phone bills will be discussed in a meeting of the parliamentary commission for appointments and immunities, Info-Prim Neo reports. Communist MP Iurie Muntean ran up a phone bill of 1,265 lei, his colleague Aliona Babiuc of 1,062 lei, while the chairwoman of the Communist parliamentary group Maria Postoico of 1,046 lei. Lawmakers Igor Vremea and Eugenia Ostapciuc spent 1,043 lei and 872 lei respectively. “They do not attend the Parliament's sittings, but want cars and high salaries. What shall we do with them? Shall we disconnect them?,” Mihai Ghimpu asked the MPs. The 43 Communist lawmakers stopped coming to the sittings one month ago. They demand that the Parliament be dissolved and that new early legislative elections be announced.
