Communist Lawmakers Against Romanian AH1N1 Vaccine

The Communist parliamentary faction is asking the Prosecutor General's Office to investigate the use of the vaccine against the AH1N1 virus donated by Romania. The Communist lawmakers are alarmed by the fact that the vaccine is still administrated in Moldova despite the fact that its Romanian producer has lost its license. Yet the Moldovan Ministry of Health has assured the vaccine is absolutely safe and effective. The Romanian Institute “Ioan Cantacuzino”, Romania's sole producer of anti-flu vaccine, has recently lost its license, “because its production standards of good practice expired”, according to the Communists. However, the Moldovan Ministry of Health insists the Institute's license was not withdrawn but simply expired at the beginning of February and now the Institute is set to renew it. The Ministry also argues that the vaccines donated to Moldova were produced in October-December 2009 and had all the required papers to confirm their quality. According to latest data, the Romanian vaccine has been so far administrated to 159,300 persons. No serious side effects surfaced.
