Communist councilors seek higher pays for teachers

Valery Pavlov, Chisinau councilor representing the Communists Party (PCRM), demands that the difference between the old and new heat, electric power and gas charges paid by the inhabitants of Chisinau should be covered from the state budget, Info-Prim Neo reports. The statement was made in a news conference on January 29. Pavlov said it was a continuation of the conference held by his party colleagues Eduar Musuc and Oeg Reidman, who are members of the Parliament. Valery Pavlov read a statement issued by the Communist faction of the Chisinau Municipal Council, which says that the national and municipal authorities during the last six months have adopted legislative and normative documents that create impossible living conditions in the municipality and in the country. The Communist faction considers that most of the Chisinau residents will not be able to pay for public utilities as their salaries, pensions and other incomes are very low. The Communist councilors demand that the Government of Moldova transfer money to the budget of Chisinau for helping the population cover the difference between the old and new heat, electric power and gas charges. Asked to explain why on Thursday they demanded that the national agency regulator cancel the decision to raise the charges, but now want that the Government pays compensations to the Chisinau inhabitants, Pavlov said this would be a solution for overcoming the situation if the ANRE's decisions was not annulled. In the end of the statement, the Communist councilors demand that the authorities adopt a decision to raise school teachers' salaries by 20% in 2010.
