The local public administration of the Chisinau municipality will not be present at the Economy Week of the Republic of Moldova in Romania, which is to take place, the next week, in Bucharest. During the meeting from Thursday, June 8, Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) rejected, by the votes of the communist faction, a draft decision on this issue. The draft was rejected by the communist councilors despite the arguments presented by the representatives of other factions, according to which the participation of an official delegation of the Mayoralty and the presentation of Chisinau at an own stand is a good occasion to learn about the experience of the neighbor countries, to set partnership relations, but also promoting the image of Chisinau as capital of the Republic of Moldova. Because of the same vote, Chisinau missed the occasion to participate at the “Capital’s Celebration” in Bucharest, on June 17 2006, within which Moldovan singers had to participate. The communist councilors justified their vote by the lack of financial resources. According to them, the sources that accumulate to the budget are planned for other goals. The participation of the official delegation from Chisinau, comprising 10 persons would have cost the local budget about 250 thousand lei, of which 45 thousand for the exhibition stand. The Economy Week of the Republic of Moldova in Romania will take place during June 12-17, 2006 within the Exhibition Complex “Romexpo – International Bucharest Fair”. The national exhibition entitled “Moldova presents” will include products of the light industry, wine, alimentary and processing industry, car and equipment construction, wood processing and construction, as well as scientific researches and advanced technologies of the Republic of Moldova.
