Communist councilors indignant at proposal to declare May 9 mourning day

The Communist faction in the Chisinau Municipal Council expressed its indignation at the suggestion to declare May 9 a mourning day, which was made in the April 29 meeting of the Chisinau City Hall. The councilors consider that this initiative is a blasphemy towards the holy victory of the heroic peoples of the Soviet Union, which made considerable sacrifices for saving mankind from the fascist scourge, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the Communist Party of Moldova, the proposal to declare May 9 a morning day was formulated not accidentally. In the Chisinau City Hall, this atmosphere is encouraged by Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca by dirty politicizm, open and hysterical unionism.

The Communists say that the mayor general and his corrupt machinery do not want and cannot efficiently solve the problems of the municipality and, sooner or later, the functionaries will have to answer before society for all the wrongdoings.

In the April 29 meeting of City Hall officials, Gabriela Ciumac, head of the Foreign Relations Division, said that May 9, when it is celebrated the victory against fascism, must be declared a day of morning for those killed in war, while the Ribbon of Saint Gheorghe, which is carried on this day, should be banned because it does not form part of the national traditions.
