Communist councilors hold meeting at Chisinau City Hall

The Communist Party (PCRM)’s candidate for mayor of Chisinau Igor Dodon and his team of councilors came together for a working meeting at the City Hall on June 10, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We discussed a number of problems confronting Chisinau. Each of my colleagues was entrusted with the task of identifying solutions to the problems experienced in the areas for which they are responsible,” said Igor Dodon. According to him, the councilors sketched the actions that will be taken immediately after the second round of the mayoral elections. Commenting on the Liberal Party’s request to recount the votes cast for the Chisinau Municipal Council, Igor Dodon said the party will obtain nothing. “The PCRM did not file such applications to court. It is for the first time that a component of the government goes against it and this shows that the Liberals are afraid of us,” he stated. In the June 5 local elections, the PCRM earned 46.11% of the ballot in the municipality and will have, according to preliminary calculations, 26 seats on the Chisinau Council. The vote counting reports were sent to the Centru district court for validating the election results. On June 9, the Liberal Party demanded a recount of the votes cast for the Chisinau Municipal Council and of the ballots declared invalid.
