Communist Chisinau councilors seek concessions for veterans

The faction of the Communists Party in the Chisinau Municipal Council considers that the Chisinau administration should pay 50% of the public utilities bills for the veterans of the Second World War and cancel the debts collected by them by January 1, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The veterans encounter difficulties and should be helped. These people contributed not only to the liberation of the country from fascism, but also to the restoration and development of our city,” councilor Valery Pavlov told a news conference on Tuesday. He said they should provide assistance to the soldiers who fought as part of the Soviet army, the widows of war veterans and persons who had been held in Nazi concentration camps. Another Communist councilor, Mihail Garev said these persons should be offered a lump sump of 1,000 lei and financial assistance to repair their homes. According to the Chisinau Council of Veterans, there are 1,460 veterans of the Second World War in the municipality of Chisinau at present.
