Communist candidates for local elections will become known soon, Vladimir Voronin

The leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin said the names of all the party's candidates for the local elections will be made public in the nearest future. In a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Asif Chaudhry on March 23, he said the PCRM is actively preparing for the local elections, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the party. According to Vladimir Voronin, the candidates for the posts of councilor and mayor are examined within the party's local organizations. In another development, Vladimir Voronin reiterated his position that the future President of Moldova should be politically unaffiliated. He said the six proposals concerning the presidential election formulated by the ruling alliance are aimed at usurping the power in the state. The Communist leader said the methods of electing the head of state proposed by the Alliance for European Integration are illegal and anti-constitutional. Earlier, the head of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu told the press that the ruling alliance is examining six methods for electing the head of state and is to choose one of them that will ensure the legal and constitutional election of the President.
