Communist candidate wins mayoral elections in Falesti

The residents of Falesti town elected their mayor in the second round of voting on November 27. The new mayor is Victor Zalevski, who represents the Communist Party. Andrei Volentir, secretary of the Central Election Commission, has told Info-Prim Neo that 4,258 voters took part in the elections, 138 of whom were written on additional lists. The Communist candidate Victor Zalevski polled 2 806 votes, while his opponent, Liberal-Democrat Pavel Ivanchuk – 1,268 votes. Almost 200 ballot boxes were declared invalid. Six polling places have been set up in Falesti. The post of mayor of Falesti town became vacant after the Communist Party’s representative Valeriu Muduc, who was elected in June, resigned and chose to hold the post of district head. A sum of 77,190 lei was spent on organizing the second round of voting.
