Common tax in agricultural sector may be introduced next year

The drought has reached its peak in Moldova; such difficult weather conditions for the development of the agricultural sector have been registered only in 1961, stated Premier Vlad Filat during a Government meeting. Filat asked the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry to hurry the estimation of losses caused by the drought to the farmers; the results of these estimations will then be forwarded to development partners who have expressed their availability to aid Moldova producers in overcoming the difficult situation. The Prime Minister said that all the actions need to be done in a sustained pace, because agricultural producers need resources for the autumn agricultural works. In this context, he instructed the Ministry of Agriculture to present an amendment to the legislation, which would introduce a common tax in the agricultural sector. “This bill exists, I’ve seen the draft, and it has to be updated, discussed with the producers and submitted for adoption in one of the near future’s Government meetings”, specified Filat. The Premier highlighted that the common tax would simply farmers’ lives and improve fiscal administration. It is expected to be introduced starting 2013.
