Common Program Document to be supplemented with projects from “European Village Express”

The Common Program Document for 2022-2024 will be supplemented with projects selected within the National Program “European Village Express” – a follow-up to the National Program “European Village”. The Cabinet approved changes in this regard and will identify new possibilities for financing projects to develop towns and villages, IPN reports.

Given the large number of conceptual notes submitted within the call for projects – 680 until now – 399 projects to the value of about 172.3 million lei were selected and the money was allocated from the state budget through the National Regional and Local Development Fund. Most of the projects refer to the rehabilitation of sports and social infrastructure, modernization of public lighting systems, renovation of centers of culture, enhancement of energy efficiency etc.

As a result of the implementation of the projects included additionally into the Common Program Document, another 164,000 citizens will benefit from better living conditions.

Furthermore, the Government will support the creation of childcare services for children under three by extending the number of crèches. Twenty-two projects to build or rehabilitate crèches to the value of 10 million lei were chosen at the contest within the small grants competitive call that involved local public authorities of localities with more than 5,000 inhabitants.
